Meta PM interviews reward people who can reason about networks, incentives, and metrics—not just pretty UI ideas. Here's how I'd prep.
Themes that show up often
- Product sense for consumer and/or creator/ads surfaces
- Goal setting and metrics (including second-order effects)
- Execution: roadmaps, tradeoffs, cross-functional conflict
- Behavioral: ownership, ambiguity, learning from failure
Company naming and loop details evolve—I'd confirm with recruiting.
How I'd structure answers
- Restate the goal in business + user terms
- Call out ecosystem effects (growth vs trust, short vs long term)
- Pick metrics carefully — leading vs lagging; guardrails
- Ship a plan — MVP, risks, what you'd measure next week
| Weak answer | Stronger answer |
|---|---|
| "Add stories/reels clone" | Problem framing + who benefits + what breaks |
| Vanity engagement only | Retention, integrity, and creator economics |
| No kill criteria | What would make you stop the bet |
I'd practice explaining tradeoffs out loud. Meta-scale products punish one-dimensional optimization.
