Description:

The Lead Product Engineer has Engineering responsibility from concept phase to start of production (SOP). The main product focus is Door Systems – Window Regulators and Door Modules with responsibility for the creation of new and/or revising existing concepts to include system integration, packaging environments and tooling requirements; interfacing with internal teams, suppliers and customers; and supporting purchasing, sales, testing and production.

Responsibilities:

Analyze and understand customer technical specifications, develop conformity matrix and Inteva DVPR,

Support business pursuit activities, analyze RFQ packages. Develop and maintain EBOM’s. Create DFMEA’s.

Review and translate customer product requirement to FEA requirements. Work with FEA team to simulate product different load cases. Read and understand the FEA results in order to effectively communicate information.

Develop engineering cost save idea’s and projects.

Utilize CATIA and NX CAD applications to review designs, develop concepts and perform design studies.

Follow Test and Validation through DV and PV phase, analyze results, develop solutions to any challenges.

Engage in regular communication with Global Door Systems Engineering teams, particularly Door Systems Engineering team at ITC Bangalore, India.

Provide design direction to the CAD Engineering team.

Follow Tier 1 PDP (Product Development Process) and meet all gate and design review requirements.

Consider and incorporate Engineering and Manufacturing criteria in new concepts and product changes

Qualifications:

5-10 years appropriate automotive experience in relevant Product Engineering roles.

Experience in the use of CAD applications (NX and/or Catia V5)

Experience Engineering Door systems, with a focus on cable window regulator engineering and design.

Experience in the engineering and design of frameless window regulator systems.

Knowledgeable in DFM related to Injection Molding, Stamping and Roll Forming principles.

Knowledgeable in GD&T with the ability to apply to components and assemblies.

Familiarity with PLEX and Teamcenter.

Experience in customer interaction and support – willingness to travel domestically and internationally

Excellent oral & written communication skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.

Travel is required up to 5% both domestically and internationally to support the business, although this is an estimation and may increase or decrease depending on the needs of the business.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
