Position Description

Modine Manufacturing Company is hiring for a Principal Product Engineer to support our Heating product lines within our growing Climate Solutions vertical. This position can work either out of our global headquarters in Racine, Wisconsin, or our manufacturing plant at Buena Vista, Virginia!

This Principal Engineer will be essential in the continued support and maintenance of existing engineered products, particularly unit heaters and duct furnaces. You will also work on new product development for these product lines, and for all product lines will work with other engineers, drafters, lab and test employees, as well as plant personnel to support engineering initiatives for new and existing products such as cost saving, productivity, certification, and testing.

This is a great opportunity for an engineer who wants to take ownership of product lines in a rapidly growing vertical thanks to a blend of supporting existing products and devising new products. Modine prides itself on its state-of-the-art facilities to support engineering operations.

This position offers a flexible hybrid work arrangement and operates under normal business hours, and can be based out of Racine, Wisconsin or Buena Vista, Virginia.

Key Responsibilities

• Process and work on product transfers for existing products as well as develop new products
• Use Solid Edge for CAD modeling
• Contribute to product launch projects
• Support specifications, process documentation, and engineering calculations
• Support testing and certification to required safety and performance standards
• Troubleshot products and provide required support

Required Qualifications:

• At least 10 years of engineering experience in the HVAC industry
• A strong background in CAD modeling, particularly with Solid Edge or a similar package
• Prior experience with gas fired equipment or furnaces
• Familiarity with engineering testing and certifications as it relates to the HVAC space
• Prior project leadership experience, especially in maintaining project timelines
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel

Education Requirements:

• A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline

Travel:

• Travel for this position is measured at roughly 20% of the time, with most visits to Modine facilities to support engineering operations. Occasional customer travel may be included.
