We are seeking an Associate Product Manager who will assist with the new part development process for automotive brake pads, rotors, and calipers. This position is hands-on both with physical parts and technical specs and data. This is a full-time position 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday.   The position is 100% onsite in Bedford Park, IL.

Essential Duties and Key Behaviors:
  • Assist the Product Managers for   Rotors, Pads, Calipers, and Drums with new parts development.
  • Order and arrange the delivery   (or pick-up) of OEM brake part samples from the parts department at various vehicle dealers in the south/west suburbs of Chicago.
  • Measure brake part samples using the following equipment and record measurements.
  • Digital caliper, precision caliper, and Thread gauge.
  • Ship OEM samples out for development at factories.
  • Occasional communication with personnel at the dealer parts department to obtain fitment information.
  • Reviewing blueprints versus   physical samples and/or recorded specs
  • Communication/follow-up with   factories regarding blueprints and development of new parts
  • Photographing brake parts samples for reference.
  • Perform competitive interchange research.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate proficiency with Google Suite or Microsoft Office (Excel, Vlook up, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal relationship skills to collaborate with diverse teams, including international contacts
  • Ability to lift at least 60lbs
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Highly organized and possesses strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • High School graduate

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Automotive industry experience (i.e., parts counterman) or a passion for automobiles
  • Completed or pursuing a degree in Automotive technology or a focus on Mechanical Engineering
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • General knowledge of how to use metrology equipment. (Precision micrometer, measuring caliper, etc).
